Lindens Teaching School Alliance

School Direct (unsalaried)

I chose the School Direct route into teacher training because I just love what becoming a teacher entails, and for me it was the perfect opportunity to learn from outstanding practitioners in an outstanding school!

Shortly after completing a degree in Early Childhood Studies I knew that I wanted to become a primary school teacher, so I applied for the unsalaried School Direct route at Lindens Primary School.  The School Direct route offered me reassurance as I knew which school I would be undertaking my teacher training.

Lindens Primary School stands out for its creative approach, and has allowed me to train alongside outstanding practitioners who promote a great love of creativity. Lindens has provided an exciting learning experience, similar to that it gives its pupils. Throughout my training at Lindens, I worked closely with a fantastic mentor who supported my development in becoming a reflective practitioner, consequently, developing my understanding of what factors contribute to outstanding teaching.

During my time at Lindens Primary School I studied at the University of Wolverhampton which provided me with a course of teacher training. This has enabled me to meet the Teachers’ Standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), whilst at the same time, I have gained a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) including academic credits towards a qualification at Master’s level.  The university has been very supportive throughout my teacher training, and has worked in close partnership with Lindens to provide a fulfilling and enriching learning experience.

The School Direct programme at Lindens Primary School provides a high quality training experience which has led me to developing the knowledge, skills and understanding to start a successful teaching career, and ready to face the exciting challenges of future professional practice.

School Direct (salaried)

I chose the schools direct route because it gave me choices and some reassurances. I was prepared to apply for both routes (salaried or non-salaried). Firstly, it gave me the choice of which school I wanted to do my training in and also it was comforting to know that if I was successful in my course and a vacancy became available, I would be employed across the teaching alliance.

As aforementioned, through the schools direct programme, I was given the opportunity to apply for the school that best appealed to my professional aspirations. Lindens shines for its creativity and has a rich array of resources which allows for that same creativity to be instilled into both planning and teaching.

As it does for trainees and pupils alike, Lindens has provided an inspirational learning experience which skilfully guides and encourages each learner to reach their potential. Throughout my time at Lindens, I have received exceptional support in my development as a practitioner. Again like the high quality teaching the school provides for its pupils, progression is facilitated and trainees are required to become increasingly reflective in order to ascertain an understanding of what contributes to outstanding teaching. I would recommend whole heartily this course and alliance to anyone with passion and drive for teaching.
