Art and Design Technology

Art

At Lindens we follow the Kapow Art and Design Curriculum which encourages the understanding of 5 key areas of Art.  These are

  • Making Skills
  • Generating Ideas
  • Formal Element Development
  • Knowledge of Artists
  • Evaluation

We also aim to provide as many opportunities for children to explore their creative side in and out of the classroom.

Design Technology

The Kapow scheme that we follow offers full coverage of the KS1 and kS2 Design and Technology Curriculum which it categorised into 5 key content areas.  These are:

  • Structures
  • Mechanisms
  • Electrical Systems
  • Cooking and Nutrition
  • Textiles

Children in Upper Juniors (Y5 and 6) also get the opportunity to plan a project and work with a wider variety of tools and equipment during their work with the Artist Lindsay Chalford Brown in the Summer Term.

Sketch Books

As part of out Art and DT curriculum all children have their own sketch book that they are encouraged to use to develop their skills.

Please refer to the document below to see a more in-depth breakdown of how each year group at Lindens Primary School develops their skills in both Art and DT.
