Walsall Primary Schools Girls' League
The Year 5/6 girls took part in their football league tournament this year, as part of their regular football competitions. The league started in September, with final league games completing in March.
The girls got off to a poor start, with a series of draws and losses. In February, that changed with a couple of wins getting them into the semi-final knockout stage of the competition... against Christchurch, the school that knocked that out of the league final the previous year and also thwarted their attempts at the Walsall FC tournament at Bescot. Time for action!
With a final scoreline of 1-5 to Lindens, the girls had truly set their mark on the tournament. The final was set to be against Leighswood, being hosted at Millfield Primary.
A nerve wracking final saw Lindens take the lead, but to have it dragged back and then overtaken by Leighswood. A power struggle ensued till, in the last few minutes, a draw was secured. A penalty shoot out!
Best of 3, then sudden death. Nervous, but tall goalie Aleena took her place. Saving 2 from the 3, she helped to secure a wonderful win for the team.

To cap off the night, Olivia came away with a Player of the Match award. The only thing left, a triumphant visit to McDonald's.
